An Album Review/Tour Schedule, A few random Recommendations and Video/Song of the Week

As my first album review I'm going to take a look at taking back sunday's new album titled:

Album Title: New Again

Song title:

1. New Again- Interesting, upbeat song. It was the first single off the album. Solid guitars and a real good message behind the lyrics. Definitely a good way to start off the album
rating: 3.5/5

2. Sink Into Me- I know this is one of the singles off the album, but this song doesn't do much for me. There's nothing terrible about it, just simple guitar chords and while the lyrics are solid, the song is lacking in the excitement needed to consider this song a "hit".

rating: 2/5

3. Lonely, Lonely- Real good song. Right from the beginning you get the feel that this is going to be an awesome song. Musically a great song with a great feel in the lyrics behind the obvious message.

rating 4.5/5

4. Summer, Man- Definitely a good song. However, it sounds really similar in the guitar/drum pattern that many of their songs are like. Anyways, It's still a pretty good song. A good summer song (pun intended). Blast it in your car with the sunroof open.

rating 3/5

5. Swing- Great song. A different sound by TBS, but still sounds like TBS. Really cool song here. Instantly one of my favorite songs by them. Musically and lyrically very well written.

rating 5/5

6. Where My Mouth is- A slower song, but still pretty good. Lacking a bit in the lyrics department, but makes up for it with quality guitar/bass/drum tracks.

rating 2.5/5

7. Cut me up Jenny- Cool song, but not great by any means.

rating 3/5

8. Catholic Knees- This is one song I'd really like to hear live. I think this song would be real good to play in front of a crowd. Definitely an energizer song written great lyrically and solid musically.

rating 3.5/5

9. Capital M-E- Sounds real similar to many TBS songs. Same pattern musically. Still pretty good, but not real catchy. Lyrically it is pretty well written

rating 2.5/5

10. Carpathia- The guitars in this song, for whatever reason, during the verses, really bother me. The chorus' are a general TBS style chorus. Decent song, but not one of the better ones on the album for sure.

rating 2/5

11. Everything Must Go- TBS closes out this album on a good note. This is a song TBS die-hards probably like more than I do. The chorus' are a little bit annoying, but still a pretty good song.

rating 3/5

Overall, I believe TBS succeeded with this album and it will be immensely successful and produce a few singles and maybe even reach towards the top of the charts. I don't think the album or songs will top the charts, but they'll both certainly be there.

Overall rating average-- 3.2/5

Moving on,

Taking Back Sunday is touring all summer all over Europe and America. For a full schedule visit http://www.takingbacksunday.com/tour

I'm going to post a few recommendations by readers/followers of the site as often as I can/update the blog. If you'd like to recommend something leave a comment or email me or let me know somehow.

Reader recommendation of the day:
Andrew Malia recommends "The Ballad of Sal Villanueva" by Taking Back Sunday

Lastly,

As many people know, Linkin Park, my favorite band that im sure you'll see a lot of on this site, wrote the song, "New Divide" for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. While many people, deservedly so, think the song is too much like "What i've done", it's still a pretty damn good song. Lyrically it's awesome and the instrumental part in the middle of the song is pretty fucking badass. Many people who aren't really fans of Linkin Park at all have commented to me on how good the song is.

So, my video of the week is "New Divide" by Linkin Park. One of my favorite videos of any band!
